Fractional RF Microneedling London

Cosmetic medicine has seen a number of really exciting developments over the past years, One of the most exciting inventions we have seen in recent years is INTRAcel. We had been searching for something that would really make a difference to our practice of medicine, something fresh, exciting and effective to offer our patients. INTRAcel is a unique technique using Fractional Radiofrequency Microneedling. It delivers energy to the deep dermis at the point of penetration of specially designed insulated microneedles without destruction of the epidermis.

How does Non-Surgical Face Lift (Intracel®) work?

Collagen, the protein which constitutes the main structural component of the dermis (lower layer of skin), is essential for skin strength, elasticity and integrity. Through selective heating in the deep dermis Fractional Radiofrequency Microneedling creates columns of tissue to be repaired, while tissue between columns are left undamaged. As it delivers energy deep into the dermis and does not heat up the epidermis, greater levels of energy can be delivered to the target area at the point of insertion of the microneedles avoiding damage, i.e., burning or hyperpigmentation to the epidermis. This creates shortening and tightening of the collagen fibres, and reconstruction of new collagen by the stimulation of fibroblasts.

INTRAcel is different from laser as electroenergy is transformed into thermal energy. The INTRAcel needles are insulated except for the final 0.3mm at the end of the needle where the radiofrequency energy is emmited. This energy transfers from the needle point to cause coagulation and denaturalization of the surrounding dermis. The RF energy is only released in the dermis, eliminating any heat delivery into the epidermis.

The result of this?

Damaged cells are denatured, destroying the causes of acne, acne bacteria and sebaceous glands. In ageing skin, body tissues are weakened through cellular protein changes and a gradual loss of collagen; thus, stimulating collagen production through targeting these cells has also been shown to reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

The INTRAcel delivery system is unique by pushing electrical currents into the skin, rather than through it allowing for deeper penetration without damaging the epidermis. In addition the Radio Frequency energy from Intracel produces enough thermal energy to denaturalize the cell, and destroy the causes of acne, acne bacteria, and sebaceous glands.
A local or topical anaesthetic is applied to the area to be treated to make the procedure more comfortable. The Doctor will then apply the device to the skin surface releasing the needles and delivering radiofrequency energy in short bursts as the head is moved across the area to be treated. Immediately after treatment the treated area will appear red and slightly inflamed. If uncomfortable, a cool pack, or cold air is applied to the area.
The procedure takes about 30 minutes per area.
INTRAcel is specifically indicated in tightening and lifting the skin, to treat wrinkles, large pores, stretch marks and telangiectasia in facial rejuvenation. It is also indicated in the treatment of active acne, to improve acne scarring, scarring and the reduction of sebum levels.
The interval between INTRAcel treatments is 2-3 months. However the interval level is flexible and depends on the treatment levels. It is possible to achieve positive results with only 1 treatment. However 2-3 treatments can be more effective for some lesions depending on the condition of the patients skin.
