FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How often should I have a routine gynaecology exam?
We recommend an annual check-up, and sooner if you have symptoms such as irregular bleeding, pelvic pain or new concerns.
When should cervical screening be done?
We follow UK screening guidance and tailor intervals based on your age, history and prior results. We’ll advise the right schedule for you at your visit.
Are heavy periods normal?
Heavy bleeding (menorrhagia) is common but treatable. Book an assessment if periods last >7 days, require very frequent changes, include large clots or cause anaemia symptoms.
Do you provide STI testing and treatment?
Yes — confidential testing, counselling and evidence-based management for common STIs and vaginal infections.
How do I book and where are you based?
We’re in London’s Harley Street medical district. Book by phone +44 (0) 2031499147 or via our online enquiry form.
What is cosmetic gynaecology and how is it different from standard gynaecology?
Standard gynaecology addresses the health and function of the female reproductive system: diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis, and cervical disease. Cosmetic gynaecology extends into the surgical and non-surgical enhancement of intimate anatomy; addressing concerns that are functional, aesthetic, or both.
At Bader Medical Institute, cosmetic gynaecology is not an add-on to a broader surgical practice. It is the entirety of what we do. Our clinical team comprises Dr. Alex Bader and Dr Maria Papadopoulou, who have collectively performed over 5,000 intimate procedures for patients from more than 45 countries. The distinction matters: a surgeon whose practice is entirely focused on this anatomy operates with a level of precision and accumulated clinical experience that a generalist cannot replicate.
Is it normal to feel embarrassed about discussing intimate surgery?
Yes. And it is also completely unnecessary; though we understand why it persists.
The anatomy involved in cosmetic gynaecology is the most private area of the female body. The concerns that lead women to seek these procedures are often ones they have carried quietly for years (sometimes decades) before they made a single enquiry. The reasons are a mix of social conditioning, a lack of visible clinical space for these conversations, and a reasonable fear of being judged.
None of our patients are judged. Not for the concern they arrive with. Not for the question they are afraid to ask. Not for having managed this privately for as long as they have.
Every team member at the Bader Medical Institute has heard the full range of intimate concerns: from the straightforward to the complex, from the clearly surgical to the more nuanced. Nothing you bring to a consultation here will be new to us. What will be new is having a space in which to say it, and a consultant who listens to the whole of it before forming any view.
